- I place myself in front of rows of multicolored bangles inspired by The Bangle Sellers by Sarojini Naidu. In the poem, each stage of an Indian woman’s life is marked by a specific color of bangle that she is meant to wear, and I use that structure while keeping the woman’s wrists out of view. By separating the bangles from the body, the act of choosing which color to place on the wrist becomes the moment that decides her fate.
